North Carolina law allows any individual or registered political action committee to contribute up to $4,000 per election. Corporate contributions and contributions from foreign nationals are prohibited. NC law also requires political action committees to report the name, mailing address, job title or profession, and name of the employer for individuals contributing in excess of $50 in an election cycle. Contributions are not deductible as charitable contributions for federal income tax purposes.
In order to comply with all current lobbying and election laws this committee has requested and received the following formal written opinions from the North Carolina Legislative Services Office which the State Board of Elections has said in a written opinion they would defer to for any ethical question:

*Under G.S. 120C-700(8), the lobbying laws do not apply to a political action committee.
*Under S.L. 2006-201, which became effective January 1, 2007, contributions to this PAC made by lobbyists or lobbyist principals, would be permitted. Since the PAC is not a lobbyist or lobbyist principal (exempt under G.S. 120C-700 (8), the gift ban does not appear to apply.
